Anti-Corruption Tools Inventory for Businesses Launched

(9 December 2009) Global Advice Network, Business Anti-Corruption Portal Partners, the Business and Industry Advisory Committee to the OECD (BIAC) and the UN Global Compact are pleased to announce the launch of the Anti-Corruption Tools Inventory for businesses.

The decision to create an open, free inventory was taken by the UN Global Compact 10th principle working group during its meeting in Vienna in June 2008. It is intended to guide companies through various initiatives and tools, to assist them in implementing the 10th principle in their organisations. The Global Compact's 10th principle states that: "Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery." The tools inventory is free, accessible online and presented in a brief and simple manner.

The tools included in the inventory have been chosen to accommodate, facilitate and inspire private companies' fight against corruption and to cover and present solutions to different types of corruption encountered by private companies. Of the several tools available, the inventory provides guidance about anti-corruption conventions, various corruption cases and court rulings, country specific information and sector-specific anti-corruption resources.

The web-based tools inventory was created by Global Advice Network with funding from Business Anti-Corruption Portal Partners and in cooperation with the Business and Industry Advisory Committee to the OECD (BIAC) and the UN Global Compact.
